Kisschasy - Hymns for the Non Believers

On Saturday, June 7, 2025, Hindley Street Music Hall in Adelaide was the place of nostalgia as Australian rock band Kisschasy performed their album Hymns for the Nonbeliever in full. This tour celebrates the album's first-ever vinyl pressing, 18 years after its original release.

 

Melbourne's indie rocker Suzi opened the night, delivering a set that blended heartfelt lyrics with gritty guitar riffs, captivating the audience from the start. Her performance showcased her dynamic range and set an intimate tone for the evening.

Following Suzie, Perth's favorite indie-punk band Sly Withers energized the crowd with their dynamic performance. Known for their emotive lyrics and high-energy shows, they seamlessly bridged the gap between the opener and the headliner, setting the stage perfectly for Kisschasy.

 

Kisschasy took the stage with renewed energy, opening with "The Perfect Way to Meet," which immediately engaged the crowd having a wave of nostalgia wash over everyone. They performed their ARIA Top 5, gold-certified album Hymns for the Nonbeliever in its entirety, reminding fans why the album resonated so deeply upon its original release. Frontman Darren Cordeux's vocals were powerful and heartfelt, breathing new life into tracks like "Opinions Won’t Keep You Warm at Night" and "Spray on Pants."

In addition to revisiting their classic album, Kisschasy introduced fans to their new material, performing their latest single "Lie to Me." This track, their first new release in 16 years, blends their signature sound with a modern twist, featuring loud guitars, dynamic drums, and sharp lyrics. The song's irresistible hook quickly made it a crowd favorite. Hearing 'Lie to Me' live for the first time was a highlight; its modern twist on Kisschasy's signature sound left a lasting impression.

A standout moment of the night was when the band left the stage, leaving Darren alone to perform "Dinosaur." This solo performance was intimate and heartfelt, showcasing his raw talent and deep connection with the audience.

They wrapped up the night with an absolute crowd favorite, "Do-Do's & Whoa-Oh's." The moment the opening chords hit, the entire venue erupted, singing along with such passion that Darren and the band stepped back, letting the audience take over the chorus.
