On April 5, 2025, Slowly Slowly took the stage in Adelaide for a night that was nothing short of electrifying. Fresh off the back of their European tour, the Melbourne-based indie-rock band wasted no time getting into the groove of their Australian leg of the tour, jumping straight off the plane and onto the stage. Their energy and enthusiasm were infectious, proving they were ready to bring their A-game despite the hectic tour schedule. The band delivered an unforgettable performance at Hindley Street Music Hall, showcasing their signature blend of raw emotion, compelling lyrics, and infectious energy that kept the crowd on their feet from start to finish.

The night began with ColdWave, who set the perfect tone for the evening with their energetic set. While they had a much more mellow sound, their performance was tight and engaging, warming up the crowd for what was to come.

Before Slowly Slowly took the stage, Adelaide was treated to an explosive opening set by Grayscale, who brought their dynamic blend of alt-rock and post-hardcore to the stage. From the moment they started playing, Grayscale commanded the room with their high-energy performance and powerhouse vocals.

The band's ability to transition seamlessly between melodic, atmospheric sections and heavy, anthemic moments made for an engaging and intense set. Lead singer Collin delivered a commanding performance, leading the crowd through both passionate, intimate moments and explosive, headbanging rock-out sections. Songs like "In Violet" and "Dance With Your Ghost" had the crowd moving from the start, and their overall sound seemed to resonate with fans of both heavier and more melodic rock.

Grayscale’s set was the perfect warm-up, priming the audience for the night ahead and setting a high bar for the rest of the evening. It was clear from their performance that they have a solid following, and their energy was contagious, getting the crowd hyped up for the main event.

Slowly Slowly hit the stage to a roar of applause, and from the first note, it was clear that this was going to be a special night. The band wasted no time in getting into their groove, with Ben's distinctive voice leading the way through a setlist that spanned most of discography. Opening with “Blueprint” from their previous Album Daisy Chain, the crowd immediately erupted into a wave of singalongs, a theme that would continue throughout the night.

The energy in the venue was palpable, with fans clearly eager to see their favorites live. Tracks like "Jellyfish" and "God" were particularly emotional, as they resonated deeply with long-time fans. Each song seemed to carry its own story, with the band's personal connection to the lyrics shining through, especially during more intimate moments in the set.

The band’s chemistry was undeniable. Alex, on bass, was particularly impressive, adding a unique layer to the band's already solid sound. The guitar work was intricate yet powerful, with solos that had the crowd headbanging and swaying in unison.

The band struck the perfect balance between new material and fan favorites. Tracks from their latest album, Forgiving Spree, were met with strong reactions from the crowd. Songs like “How Are you Mine” stood out, showcasing the band's evolution while staying true to the sound that made them popular in the first place. Of course, the crowd went wild for older hits like “Alchmey” and “Ten Leaf Clover,” proving that Slowly Slowly’s ability to write timeless tracks is as strong as ever.

What made the night even more special was the palpable connection between the band and the crowd. Fans were fully immersed in the performance, singing along to every word, clapping, and dancing to the music. The energy was so infectious that even those standing on the outskirts couldn’t resist getting caught up in the magic. Slowly Slowly knows how to create an atmosphere that feels intimate, even in a larger venue, and they did just that in Adelaide.

One of the most unforgettable moments of the night came courtesy of Ben, who had a bit of fun with the audience. In a spontaneous and playful move, he decided to hide a love letter on stage, only to turn the tables and attempt a cheeky crowd interaction. Instead of keeping it hidden, he threw it into the crowd, urging fans to reach for it. As the fans eagerly scrambled to grab the letter, it became clear that the crowd was far more interested in the mysterious note than Ben’s antics. In fact, the whole exchange ended with Ben crashing to the ground as the audience's attention stayed fixed on the letter! It was a hilarious and endearing moment that showed the band's playful side and how they were willing to roll with the unexpected.

The show reached its emotional climax when Slowly Slowly closed the night with their iconic anthem, Race Car Blues. As the opening notes rang out, the crowd erupted into a wave of excitement and nostalgia. This fan-favorite track was the perfect finale, with its explosive energy and deeply personal lyrics resonating with every single person in the room. The audience sang along in full force, with arms in the air, creating a collective moment of release and celebration. It was a cathartic ending to a powerful set, leaving fans in awe and still buzzing long after the final note had faded.

If you’re a fan of Slowly Slowly, this concert was a must-see. The band’s performance was nothing short of mesmerizing, and the connection they built with the audience made the night feel personal and unforgettable. Whether you’re a long-time fan or new to their music, Slowly Slowly proved once again why they are one of Australia’s most beloved indie acts.
